Lloyd Hann

February 5, 2007

Hann, Lloyd

Died peacefully at his home in Smithers on Feb. 5, 2007, at the age of 79.

Lloyd was born in Smithers to a pioneer family of Ernest and Addie Hann, on Jan. 26, 1928.

Lloyd loved hockey as a child and carried this passion for the game throughout his life to the Oldtimers Team. He was also a volunteer fireman and a member of the local chapter of Elks and has his 50 year pins.

Lloyd’s first job was for Bill Bovill at Bovill Motors, then Jim Cap-ling’s Transfer.

He then met and married Mabel Oliarny on Oct. 21, 1949, and had three children.

Lloyd spent all his working career in Smithers except one year.

Lloyd was a Jack of all Trades, working at the public works, Bovill & Hann, McEwen’s Autobody, P.G. Coachways and retired after 16 years of being employed at the Town of Smithers.

He continued to find jobs and loved spending time in his shop building things for everybody, and helping his children.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Mabel, son Dale (Mary), daughters Yvonne (Larry) and Sherry (Peer), three grandchildren; Lawrence, Nicole and Jason; four great-grandchildren Alyssa, Branden, Olivia and Ronan; four sisters, Wana, Pearl, Pat and Bert.

A private service will be held in the spring at his request, with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donate to the Elks’ Children Fund, Box 3122, Smithers, or the Smithers Hospice.
