Raymond Keith Little

Born Edmonton, AB; Nov. 26, 1955

Died Smithers, BC; Jan. 16, 2011

Family and friends of Ray Little mourn his passing in Smithers following a short but spirited struggle with brain cancer. Ray had been receiving palliative care since mid-autumn; and died peacefully at home in the company of family.

Ray spent his youth in North Saanich where he developed both a strong work ethic and an interest in cars and motorcycles. He moved to the Bulkley Valley more than 30 years ago as a young man looking for adventure, and found a place of beauty to call home where he earned a reputation as a skilled mechanic. Along the way, he also found peace, contentment, close friendships, and a loving partner to share his life with. Ray enjoyed nothing more than sharing his life with Cindy and together they spent many happy times camping in their trailer, almost always with a fishing rod in the truck and in the company of one of their faithful dogs.

Too soon gone, Ray will be sorely missed by his family (Wife Cindy, brothers Ken and Tim (and his wife Sharon), stepchildren Tanya and Tim; nephews Geoff and Andrew) and by his many longtime friends. There are also far too many people to list who benefited from Ray’s helping hand through the years. Suffice it to say that Ray was always happy to help those who needed him, and humbled to receive gratitude in return.

Family and friends wish to thank the many individuals within the health care system who collectively provided Ray with respectful care during these last few months.

At Ray’s request, no formal memorial service will be held. Expressions of condolence are most welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, and/or the Bulkley Valley Hospice Society.
