Lillian Love passed away on April
26th, in the Bulkley Lodge in Smithers,
just a few months short of her 100th
birthday.
Lillian was born to William and
Hetty Alcorn on August 5th, 1917
in Schreiber, On. She took nurses
training in Port Arthur, On. then
headed west, first to Quesnel and
then to Hazelton. In 1948, she
married Wilfred (Bill) Love and together they raised three
children, Marlene, Bill Jr., and Judy. Lil was always the
‘nurse in residence’ for the Kispiox Valley, often called on for
advice and assistance. She was a feisty, talented and caring
person. Well known for her great cooking and famous for her
doughnuts. Her great grandkids loved her fresh from the oven
buns with homemade freezer strawberry jam. She created
beautiful wedding and other special occasion cakes complete
with handmade decorations. She loved to sew and crochet,
making many gifts for new babies, family and friends. She
was a special lady, and was very loved. She will live on thru
our many, many memories.
Lillian was predeceased by her parents William and Hetty;
two brothers, Reynold and Bud; husband Bill; son Bill Jr.;
grandchildren Rhonda and Corina; best friends Jessie and
Lena; and by many others too numerous to mention.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Bulkley Lodge in Smithers
for their patience, care and compassion. Also to the very
caring and generous staff and volunteers at the Bulkley Valley
Hospice Society.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In
lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Bulkley Valley
Hospice Society would be much appreciated, PO Box 8,
Smithers, BC V0J 2N0. Condolences may be offered at www.
