Leslie Colin Yates

Leslie Colin Yates, 24 years, of Telkwa, formerly of Prince Rupert, B.C., died in an automobile accident Dec. 3, 2004 near Nipigon, Ontario. Colin was born in Victoria, B.C. and lived most of his life in Prince Rupert.

Colin was a gentle, caring person who had wonderful memories of life in Prince Rupert and Telkwa. He was a proud member of the Rainmaker basketball team that won the Provincial High School Basketball Championship in 1998. While working on his university degree, he played basketball with the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves in Alberta and then with the Laurentian University Voyageurs in Sudbury, Ont. He finished university in May 2004.

Colin is survived by his parents, Les and Chris Yates of Telkwa, B.C., his sister Charlotte of Victoria, B.C., his brother Ian of Telkwa, B.C., his grandparents Mary and Stewart Yates of Toronto, Ont., and by his girlfriend, Cori Jondreau of Sudbury, Ont. He was predeceased by his grandparents Eugene and Florence Nadon of Kapaskasing, Ont.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Prince Rupert, B.C. A reception will follow at the Crest Hotel.

A memorial service and reception will also be held Saturday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Telkwa.

He was an athlete, a thinker and loved a good debate. He is much loved and will be forever missed by his family and friends.
