Kenneth J. C. Gowan
Dec. 8, 1944 to May 24, 2014
Ken died suddenly at his home in Granisle, B.C. while mowing his lawn. Being outdoors was important to Ken as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting throughout his life.
Ken was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, and raised in Nelson, B.C. He earned a Forestry degree from UBC, after which he spent a few years in Australia, flying. In this adventure, Ken earned a twin engine rating. Ken lived most of his adult life in Smithers and worked at the PIR sawmill. In the fall of 2007 he retired and moved to his house in Granisle to spend more time outdoors in his various pursuits.
Ken had many friends in both Smithers and Granisle. He enjoyed going to the range to shoot his toys, and was always ready to converse over a coffee.
Ken will be cremated, and at his family’s request, there will be no service until a later date.
