EMMERSON, John Douglas tragically taken on June 14, 2009 in Telkwa, B.C. at the age of 46 years.

Born in Vancouver, John grew up in Richmond and graduated from Langley Secondary School. Driving his motorcycle to Calgary, AB he decided to leave the bike and moved to Maple Ridge, B.C. In 1988, John joined the BC Tel (Telus) team and moved to Prince George where he met Wendy. Married in 2004, they moved to Smithers in 2006 and John finally found a place to call home.

John is survived by his loving wife Wendy, daughter Darby, sons Garrett, Jesse Conn, Steven (Chelsey) Conn, parents Bill & Jeanine Emmerson, brothers Bob (Peggy), Gary (Cheri) and sister Marie (Brian) Shields, numerous nieces, nephews, other relations and many friends.

John was involved in the Smithers Snowmobile Club as President and was also President of the Liberal Assoc. for the Skeena riding. He was the Fine Master for the Smithers Rotary Club. John was also concerned with the many aspects of environmental conservation.

A Service of Remembrance for John was held on Monday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hudson Bay Lodge with good friend Brian Phillips emceeing. Cremation was requested.

If friends so desire, Memorial tributes to a trust fund for John’s children can be made in Wendy’s name at the Bulkley Valley Credit Union or mailed to the Credit Union at Box 3729, Smithers, B.C., V0J 2N0 and would be greatly appreciated.
