Joan Elizabeth Longridge neé Curley

Joan was born on Sept. 2, 1959, in Smithers, B.C. Joan graduated from high school in 1977. She went on to the University of British Columbia and after several years, graduated in 1986 with a Masters in Special Education. Joan had a true passion for teaching and helping children with disabilities. Her teaching career was ended in Edmonton, Alberta, April 2008, after a massive seizure left her somewhat disabled.
After a courageously fought battle with cancer, Joan passed away on January 3, 2011. Joan was predeceased by her father, Leland Curley, in 1970, and her oldest brother, Allen Curley, in 1984. Joan is survived by her loving husband, Bill Longridge, and her mother, Rose Curley. Joan will be greatly missed by her brothers Glen (Robyn), Lloyd (Michele) children Laurel and Leland and her sisters Janet (Danny) children Nolan and Aleah, and Jeannine (Arend).
Joan and Bill shared four children and four grandchildren, Tavin (Natasha) children Winona, Jayden, Shea, and Clover, Farrell (Nicole), Kegan and Kendl (Bryan). Joan will be missed by Morene (“her adopted daughter”) (Andy) and children Trae, Avory, and Devon. Joan also had many other family, friends and colleagues that will be saddened by her passing.
