A Celebration of Life for Jean Tofsrud took place June 25, 2013 at the Pioneer Lodge. Jean passed away June 19, 2013 with her family at her side. She was born November 5, 1925 in Durham England. At the age of one year Jean immigrated with her family from Liverpool, England to Halifax, Canada during the summer of 1926. In 1954 Jean, Les and family moved to the Bulkley Valley where they farmed and raised their family.
Jean was well known and respected throughout the Bulkley Valley. She was actively involved in the Seniors Society of Telkwa, Telkwa Museum and church. Jean’s wit and humor will be greatly missed by many friends and family; Sons and Daughters: Fay (Jim) VanHorn, Allan (Shirley), Wayne (Nora), Gary (Tina), Diane (Bob) Morey, Brenda (Mark) Holenstein; Grandchildren: Stuart (Kim), Wendy (Bill), Lisa, Lance (Heidi), Mark (Janice), Lane (Jeanette), Kim (Dave), Troy (Jodi), Ivan (Daphne), Candace (Wes), Ryan (Jessica), Shane, Angela (Sheldon), Shonna, Myles (Tamara) and 36 Great Grandchildren and numerous others that fondly called her Grandma and Great Grandma. Jean is predeceased by her loving husband Les (1997) and grandson Scott (1969). She was the last of her generation in both the Hopps and Tofsrud Families.
