Jean Hollyoak passed away March 15th, 2021 in Smithers, BC. She was born May 12th, 1939 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England. She went to Nuneaton High School For Girls (now called Etone College). She then went on to work as a Bank Clerk.
She met her future husband, Doug, at the ballroom dancing club in Nuneaton. They got married on September 3rd, 1960 in Chilvers Coton All Saints Parish, Nuneaton. They lived in Nuneaton and Hartshill before immigrating to Canada on May 28th, 1975. After living in Rockglen, Sask, and Powell River, they settled in Smithers.
Jean loved being in beautiful Smithers and was part of the Fall Fair and the Genealogy Society. She worked for many years as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Bulkley Valley Chiropractic and retired in 2006. Jean was active in the Anglican Church Women's group for over 40 years.
She was a regular in the thrift store and soup kitchen. Jean spent a lot of time sailing with Doug. She especially enjoyed gardening, family get togethers and she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.
Jean was predeceased by her parents William Ivor and Mary Elizabeth (nee Harrison) Tomlinson. Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Douglas Hollyoak; sister-in-law Liz (Mick) Randle and niece Debbie (Hayley) Parsons Randle; her daughter, Pam (Brian) Garner, and grandchildren Malina (Kyle) and Brook; her son, Mark (Tammie) Hollyoak, grandchildren Seaver (Randall), and great grandchildren Tenley and Huxton; granddaughter Taryn (Harrison) Eras, and great grandchildren Asher and Bennett; her son, Paul (Andri) Hollyoak and grandchildren, Daryl, Sean, Hannah, Maya (Darcy), Gareth (Jay) and Kezia (Lukas); as well as cousins and other relatives in Canada, England and Australia.
There will be a memorial for Jean when we can get together in larger numbers.
