Janet Ross MacKinnon passed away on February 26, 2007 at Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace, B.C.

She is survived by her daughter Janet (Rodger) D’Amours; grandsons Scott (Anita) of Sydney, Australia; Darcy (Kris) of Abbotsford, two great grandchildren Colin and Jenna D’Amours, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Predeceased by her brother George, two sisters Isabelle and Catherine (and brother-in-law Johnny)

Janet was born April 22, 1914 to Agnes and Norace Golberg in Alix, Alberta. She married and moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1934. She started her career in 1948 in a department store in Wells and worked her way up to managing ladies wear, then moved and worked in the Killiam Co-op in Alberta for 2 years. In 1952 Janet started working for the Terrace Co-op until 1979 when she retired.

Janet started curling in 1938 at the Royal Curling Club in Edmonton. In 1955 she was one of the founding members of the Terrace Curling Club, Janet was given a Life Membership in 1973.

Janet’s family was central in her life. She will be loved and remembered for her kind heart and generous lively spirit. Her passing has brought much sadness to her family and friends as we all know how special she was.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Terrace Curling Rink.
