James Marshall “Jim” Butler, born in Vancouver on September 19, 1938 to Charles Edward and Mae Butler, succumbed to his lengthy battle with cancer on July 9, 2011.

Jim leaves behind his loving wife Cheryl (Frantzen) Butler, sons Herb (Charlotte) and John (Lisa), and stepchildren Nicole (Taylor) and John (Megan); grandchildren Christie Jaarsma (Alvin), Jesse Butler (Melissa) and Olivia; great grandchildren Cassandra, Danae and Kiptyn (whom he never knew), sister- in-law Bonnie Butler and nephews Clark, Ted, Brian and families. Jim was predeceased by his father, mother and brother, Charles Edward.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Hart and the BV cancer clinic staff for their wonderful care and support. It was much appreciated by the family.

Jim was an outdoor enthusiast whose passion was fishing and exploring the Bulkley Valley. He always had a story to tell. Jim will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Smithers Golf & Country Club on Friday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m.
