James (Jim) Eric Anton Lovestrom

September 30, 1929 ~ July 4, 2009

Jim (Snooks) of Creston passed away peacefully at home July 4, 2009 at the age of 79.

Jim was born in Creston on September 30, 1929. He was the fifth child of six, born to Andy and Leona.

As a teenager Jim worked in logging camps. Jim married Lorraine Hollowink in 1951. He lived in Riondel for 19 years and worked for Cominco. From there he worked in mines at Benson Lake and Salmo. In 1974 he moved to Smithers to work for the Ministry of Mines. 1988 brought them back to the Creston Valley to retire.

Jim was a member of the Kaslo Masonic Lodge for 50 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His sense of humour was unique. He never told a lie, just stretched the truth “a little.”

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lorraine of 57 years, two sons, Eric (Suzanne) of Elkford, Micky of Elkford and two daughters, Jeannie (Victor) Cramer of Smithers, Karen Perreault of Smithers.

He leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren to carry on his unique sense of humour.

Jim is also survived by sisters, May (Fred) Masuch of Cranbrook, Alice (Bill) MacDonald of Creston and brothers, Bud (Margaret) Lovestrom of Penticton and Bob (Jean) Lovestrom of White Rock.

Jim was predeceased by his father Andy, mother Leona and sister Agnes Everitt.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
