Jack R Trowbridge

July 31, 1932 - June 10, 2009

Jack R Trowbridge, born in St. Albans, West Virginia, passed away June 10 at the Cowichan District Hospital. Jack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Trowbridge, his three daughters; Tina Fain, Angela Trowbridge, and Marilyn Trowbridge and his three grandchildren; Isabel, Mateo, and Joshua. He is also survived by his siblings; Betty Austin (St. Albans, WV), James Trowbridge (Alfred, MA), Jenny Winkler (Hopewell, VA), Michael Trowbridge (Martin’s Ferry, OH), and Robin Murphy (Sandstone, WV).

Jack was a good man. He will be fondly remembered for his love of his family and many friends, his bluegrass music, and his American homeland. After proudly serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he continued to serve his community in Lexington, KY as an ambulance attendant, as a firefighter, and as a law enforcement officer. After moving to Canada in 1963, Jack had a varied career as a salesman with Colgate Palmolive, 17 years as a realtor in B.C., and as a Canadian Commissionaire. Jack was a member of the New Life Baptist Church, the Duncan Legion, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

A memorial celebration will be held the first week in August. Donations in memory of Jack can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
