Mar 6, 1928 - May 6, 2018
Inez Sophia Herman passed away at the Bulkley Lodge on May 6, 2018.

She was one of eleven children, born in Ponteix, Saskatchewan. Her early years were spent on the family farm. She resided in a convent to complete her high school education, then completed secretarial training. After one year working in a lawyer's office, she made the trek to Smithers to begin a steno position at Hansen Lumber. Shortly after, Inez met and married Jim Herman, beginning her new life as wife and proud mother to her three boys. Inez continued to work for many years in the family business Smithers Plumbing & Heating Ltd.

Mom was known for her bread-making, especially cinnamon buns; curling, especially sideline advice to Ken; crib playing, often scoring a 28; and of course, dancing with Jim. In later years, helping plan and attending Seniors' functions and coffee groups (she had a couple) were favourite pastimes. Mom had a real flair for fashion with her matching outfits; and her direct approach to life, people and friends kept us on our toes. She was so very proud of her four grandchildren and loved to attend their activities. One of Mom's most endearing strengths was her sense of family, and efforts to keep us all connected.

Inez is survived by sons Ken (Cyndy), Mike (Linda); grandchildren Lorilee, Olivia, Tyler and Chris.

She was predeceased by Jerry (son) in 1997 and Jim (husband) in 2003.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pioneer Activity Centre on Saturday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m.

Special thanks to Dr. Sheila Smith, 3rd floor staff at Bulkley Valley District Hospital, and staff in the Blueberry section of Bulkley Lodge for their care and compassion in looking after Mom.
