In Loving Memory of

Ida Huisman (Groot)

Jan. 18, 1935 - May 25, 2007

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 91:1

Ida was born in Andijk, Netherlands, in 1935. She then immigrated to Canada in 1938. Her family was one of the first Dutch settlers in the Houston area. Ida was the second of six children born to Pieterman and Ida Groot. She met Hank Huisman and they were married on May 9, 1958. Together they had six children. Ida was a very gentle, loving mother whose love and devotion for Christ was illustrated to each of her children in her daily life. Ida had may talents, some of which included cooking, sewing and gardening. Ida went to be with her Lord after having fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was a wonderful inspiration to all those around her.

We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, cards and flowers. We would especially like to thank the medical staff for the great job they did while our mother was in the hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Scholtz for the wonderful care and comfort he provided for our mom.

Ida will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren: Ida and Marty Hamhuis, Smithers, B.C., Dan and Sarah, Erin and Cindy; Ron and Joanne Huisman, Prince George, B.C., Kayla, Jordan and Kyle; Annie and Tom de Vries, Smithers, Ryan, Shannon, Daryl and Tyson†; Pete Huisman, Smithers, Darcy and Derek; Nancy and Albert Vandevelde, Terrace, B.C., Breanne, Denise, Jason and Eric; Jerry and Elizabeth Huisman, Smithers.

Dearly remembered also by many relatives and friends.
