In Loving Memory of

Herbert Keehn

With his wife by his side, Herb passed away peacefully at home, February 15th, 2008, after battling cancer. He will be missed always by his friends and family. Herb was born in Saskatchewan to parents Amelia & Christian Keehn. After moving to the southern interior of BC, where he met his wife Sylvia (Smith). They married in 1951 and moved to Quesnel, and then to the Hazelton area, working in various logging camps until 1966, when they settled in Telkwa where Herb worked as a saw filer for TF&M, then at PIR in Smithers until he retired in 1989. Fishing, hunting and camping were Herb’s greatest passion and no one ever left his place without having been told great tales from past adventures.

Herb is survived by Sylvia, his loving wife of 56 years, and their seven sons Jerry (Carol), Dave (Ona), Chris (Brenda), Bruce (Marlene), Wayne (Nichole), Thomas (Holly), and Kevin (Tara). Herb was pre-deceased by his parents, as well as four sisters and six brothers. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Ron (Joan) of New Brunswick, and sister-in-law Violet (Gordon) of Williams Lake. Also left to grieve are 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-granchildren.

A graveside service was held at the Telkwa Cemetary on February 20th, 2008, followed by a memorial at the Telkwa Seniors Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community Cancer Care Team, Box 370, Smithers BC V0J 2N0. The family wishes to thank Dr. B. Bastian, nurses and staff at the Smithers Hospital for their kindness and caring for Herb.
