Helena passed away at Wrinch memorial hospital from complications due to kidney cancer Helena was buried at Hagwilget cemetery December 16, 2010. We donated $2,000.00 in her memory to BC Cancer foundation as per her request. We would like to acknowledge the staff of Wrinch memorial hospital for the care and comfort provided while Helena stayed there. We would like to acknowledge all those who took time to visit Helena in the hospital in Hazelton and Prince George.
Helena was a Gitxsan Hereditary Chief of the Fireweed clan. Helena held strong beliefs in the traditions of the Gitxsan and passed the knowledge on to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The month of December 2010 is usually a very happy time for the family however this year it was empty we carried on the traditions we had. To those of you out there who take for granted your parents because they make you do things you don’t like trust us when we say this “cherish your parents and time with the family while you have them”. When you lose them you can’t take it back.
