In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom, Helen Marguerite Bruhjell on January 9, 2023 at the age of 94. Helen is survived by her daughters Debbie (Trevor), Tanya (Guido) and Linda, Carol (Richard), daughter-in-law Linda Ann (Rick) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Audrey and brother Mark (Teresa).
She grew up on the Oulton farm and later moved into town with her sister Irene. She moved back to the farm after losing her mother at a young age to help raise her siblings. She met and married the love of her life Donn in 1949. They lived in Kitimat for a short time before purchasing the Oulton farm where they raised their five children. She worked as a bookkeeper for their own business as well as many others. She was a lady of many talents.
Mom belonged to the Glenwood Women's Institute for 60+ years and was involved in many community fundraisers and organizations. She was an amazing cook and baker as many people can attest to. She always had a huge vegetable garden and surrounded their home with various plants and flowers. She was a talented seamstress and knitter and would always have a sweater outfit ready for each of her grandchildren to wear home from the hospital. She preserved her garden for winter and always had homemade jam for that fresh baked biscuit! She lived a beautiful life and was so loved and loved us. She will be greatly missed.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Donn; sons Rick and Randy; parents Annie and Ray Oulton (Flo); brother Darwin Oulton; sisters Bev Carlson and Irene Johnson; grandsons Brant Holenstein and Trenton Bruhjell.
We would like to thank the entire staff at the Bulkley Lodge for the exceptional care given to our mom. Dr.'s Scholtz, Eustace and Kruithof. Also, to Dr. Vestvik and the emergency staff at BVDH.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring.
