Harry Robert Furlonger Sturney
April 23, 1939 to November 20, 2009
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden, unexpected passing of Bob Sturney. Bob moved with his family to New Hazelton in October, 1949. He served in Canada’s Air Force as a radar man. Bob worked for the B.C. Ministry of Highways and the B.C. Forest Service. He also owned and ran the first video store in the Hazeltons, Roche Video and Sports. Passionate about golf, he could be found from April to October on the links in Smithers and Terrace. Bob is survived by his wife Fay; his daughter Heather (Graham); son Rob; stepson Sean (Christy); brothers Richard (Daphne) Ray (Maureen), and Lyle; sisters Barbara Jackson (Reg) and Sharon Rawluk (Randy); five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A good-natured man of tremendous wit, humanity and intellect, he will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon.
