December 13, 1936 ~ February 26, 2022
Harold Arnold Routley was born on December 13, 1936 in Lumby, British Columbia. As a young man, Harold accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior; his devotion and love for God was so essential to him that he just had to share with anyone he met. After studying at the BC Bible Institute in North Vancouver, Harold served as a gospel worker in various places like Quatsino, Coal Harbour, and Port Alice.
In 1965, he married his beloved wife Joyce in Smithers and accepted a job working on the bridge crew for the Department of Highways and Nechako North. In 1968, Harold and Joyce welcomed their son John. Some of Harold's favorite activities included singing hymns, reading, fishing, berry picking, and camping. Harold especially loved the Bulkley Valley and the people who resided in it. He always continued to serve his community and even contributed to others in need whether it was an orphanage in Chile or the Children's Hospital of British Columbia.
Harold sadly passed away on February 26, 2022 after a long hard-fought battle with esophageal cancer. He is survived by his sister Norma Enns, granddaughter Cassidy Routley and her husband Connor White, daughter-in-law Stephanie MacDonald and her husband Ernie MacDonald, and niece Deb Phare and her husband Blair Gourlay.
Harold was predeceased by his parents Eliza and Willard, son John, wife Joyce, and by his sisters Gladys Phare, Vera Eckart, and by his brothers, Raymond Routley, Albert Routley, Kenneth Routley, and Roy Routley.
In lieu of flowers, a ministry that was close to Harold's heart is the Street Corners Ministry.
