Grace was born in Kimberley, BC, on January 18th, 1962. She moved to Smithers with her parents in October of 1974. It was in Smithers that she met her husband Kris Detremaudan in 1990. They moved to Edson, Alberta, in 1993 and Grace sold cars and raised sheep on acreage there. Grace and Kris were married in 1995 in Kimberley, BC. When Kris retired from the railway in 2004, they moved to Creston, BC, to be closer to Grace's parents.
Although Grace had no children of her own, she loved with all her heart her Niece Sarah. Her Step-grandchildren were also dear to her heart.
Grace fought a valiant battle against breast cancer for the past 2 1/2 years, but succumbed to it on September 15th, 2007, in the Creston Memorial Hospital.
Grace is survived by her loving husband: Kris Detremaudan; Parents: John & Sylvia Mintz; Sister: Deborah Mintz (Lanny Kinrade); Brother: Dan (Donna) Mintz; Sister: Ruth Mintz (Wayne Gregorie); Niece: Sarah Romphf; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; Stepson: Kristian Detremaudan; Stepdaughter: Leona (Colin) Mohr; and was Nana to Chelsea, Calvin, Michael, Ashley, Chad & Mackenzie.
A memorial service was held on September 20, 2007, at Grace’s parents’ home in Wynndel, BC.
