Gordon Karl Hugh PETERSEN

October 25, 2016

Gordon Karl Hugh Petersen passed away in Victoria on October 25 at the age of 72. Born in Smithers, BC in January 1944, Gordon was the second of four children to parents Martin and Evelyn Petersen.

He is predeceased by his parents, and his older brother Mike, and is survived by his sisters Jean and Audrey, his partner Erica, as well as his three children, Tim, Peni and Marty, and his eight grandchildren, Ashley (25), Tia (21), Cort (19), Cyleste (18), Toren (17), Jasper (15), Iain (11) and Sam (7). The lifelong businessman was known for his love of hunting, fishing and, in particular, curling. He was a longtime member of the Esquimalt Curling Club and a well-known figure in the community.

His family enjoyed teasing him about his growing propensity for collecting what he affectionately called "good stuff", and he will be remembered for his generousity fondness in telling tall tales and good stories. Gordon’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday November 26th 2016 at the Equimalt Legion @ 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to For The Love of Curling, which helps support curling programs in Canada (see www.curling.ca/ilovecurling). Gordon’s family would like to thank hospital staff and friends for their help and support during Gordon’s cancer treatment and subsequent hospitalization.
