October 3, 1958 - August 13, 2023
In Loving Memory ~
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Glen James Curley. He was born in Smithers on October 3, 1958, and left us on August 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving partner, family, and friends.
Glen was a loving and devoted partner, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Everyone knew him as a very kind, gentle, genuine, and patient man with a big smile and wonderful, hearty laugh.
Bulkley Valley is where Glen loved to call home in his adult life. He treasured spending time with the love of his life, Robyn, whether hanging out at home, going to local events, or travelling the world. Family was extremely important to Glen, and he cherished his relationships with his mom, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and all the in-laws.
Glen was a passionate skier, keen fisherman, and avid hunter. A highlight for Glen was achieving the coveted Level 3 Ski Instructor Certification and teaching a countless number of people how to ski on Hudson Bay Mountain including his father-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Glen worked the last 17 plus years for School District #54. He was proud of all his work and grateful for the many wonderful friendships he made with his colleagues.
Glen is survived by his partner, Robyn Cunningham; his mother, Rose Curley; brother Lloyd (Michele); sister Janet (Danny); sister Jeannine (Arend); father-in-law Rodney Cunningham; sisters-in-law Renie (Bernard) and Ronda; brothers-in-law Rod and Randy (Kama); and nieces and nephews Nolan, Aleah, Laurel, Leland, Lennix, and Angel.
Glen was predeceased by his father, Lee Curley, brother Allen, and sister Joan.
The families are extremely thankful for the thoughtfulness and generosity of everyone that called, stopped by, or dropped off food, flowers, or cards. They would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Pretorius, Nurse Robbie, and the staff at BVDH for their gentle care and to the paramedics and first responders that attended at the home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Glen to the charity of your choice.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Smithers on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 am followed by a gathering to honour Glen's life and share memories at the Smithers Legion at 12:30 PM. Light refreshments will be served.
We are eternally grateful for having Glen in our lives. We will miss him tremendously and take comfort knowing his love lives on through his families.
