Clarkston, Geraldine Frances

Fran was born in Moose Jaw, Sask. December 8th, 1923 and died in Cranbrook, BC October 8th, 2008. She was raised in Vancouver where she attended Normal School and later moved to teach in Telkwa. Here she met Ray, they married in 1947 and raised their family in Smithers. Her teaching career, which she loved, spanned 35 years, most of those at Smithers Secondary School. Her interests included family, skiing, golf, music, bridge and travel.

In 1986, Fran and Ray retired to Oliver, B.C. and were active in the Legion, golfing and travel. Ray died in 1993 and Fran continued in Oliver until 2002 when she moved to Vernon; here she helped to raise her grandson, Cassidy. This time with Cassidy was very special to her.

In 2006, Fran moved to Cranbrook enjoying new adventures before taking ill. She resided in the Dr. F. W. Green Home for the past 16 months. She will be remembered for her high energy, sense of fun and fashion and ready to try anything attitude.

Loved and survived by daughter, Sheila Clarkston (Bill Marschner) of Cranbrook, son Keith Clarkston and grandson Cassidy Edwards-Clarkston of Vernon, sister Shirley (Jorgen) Dahlie of N.Vancouver, sister in law, Joan (Russ) Coombes, Duvall WA and several nieces and nephews.
