George (Big John) Thomas Corfe

George passed away peacefully at the Bulkley Valley Lodge in Smithers, BC, on June 22, 2008, at the tender age of 85. George was born January 23, 1923, in Langford, England to Percy and Ellen Corfe. He had a zest for life and he loved to fly. George was in the RAF as an aircraft mechanic during WWII. He married Gloria Mae Foster, May 27, 1950 in Woodstock, Ontario and they raised 6 children together before they moved to Walcott Road in the Bulkley Valley in 1979, where he tried his hand at farming. He then retired to his daughters property on Laidlaw Road, where he lived until he became too ill for Gloria to take care of him. He moved into the Bulkley Lodge and was well taken care of and well loved by the staff. He always had a sense of humor for the doctors when they came to visit and no matter what, he always said he was “just fine” and hardly ever complained. George was a member of the Legion and even though he was a private man, he attended when he could. He leaves behind his loving wife Gloria, his sons Tom (Corfe) and Gordon (Corfe) and his daughters Kate (Corfe), Maggie (Gibson), Julie (James), and Lisa (Valerio), as well as numerous grand children and great grand children. He will be fondly remembered and remain forever in our hearts.

Soar with the angels Dad, we love you

There will be no service for George, at his request and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Parkinsons Society
