George Arthur Napoleon Cloarec

May 1, 1930 - June 16, 2007

George was born in Kipling, Sask., where he spent his years as a youth working on the farm. At the young age of 16, George made his way out by rail to Perow, BC. On arriving at Perow in 1946, he went to work in the bush for one of the many small sawmills located in the area at that time. It was in Perow where he met and married on June 28, 1952, his life long partner, Verna (Byman) of 55 years. Together George and Verna raised three daughters, Marlene, Delphine and Lisa.

George was a handyman and after his working for others, he and his older brother Joe ran their own sawmilling operation. In 1970 he started his own General Construction Contracting Company, building many homes and local business buildings in Houston and area. In 1989, George purchased a large excavator and once again returned to the bush, working as an equipment operator until his retirement in 1995.

George was a strong man, he loved to fishing and loved to laugh. With a twinkle in his eye, he could often be heard saying, “Never spoil a good notion.”

George was also a spiritual man who loved his God, Jehovah. George dedicated his life on July 19, 1941, and faithfully Jehovah for 66 years. During those years he set a sterling example for all in his dedication; whether it was his attendance at Christian meetings, his zeal for the door to door ministry or caring for the needs of others, his love for truck or his firm stand for right principles.

George will also be remembered for his big heart and how he used his skills and material advantages for the furthering of Kingdom interests and for the benefit of others. George’s greatest legacy is how he passed on his spiritual heritage to his family.

George is survived by his wife Verna; his sisters Margaret (Art) and Carolyn (John); his children Marlene Norgaard, Delphine Friesen (Dale) and Lisa Tynkow (Walter); his grandchildren Knut (Ramona), Rachel (Sean), Jayda (Quentin), Dana (Julie), Shane (Jodi), Nina (Jeremy) and Brianna; and his great-grandchildren Maija, Bailey, Vayda, Dani and Nya.

George loved life, loved his wife and his family and will be deeply missed by all.
