In Loving Memory

George Anderson

October 24, 1930 - August 21, 2011

George was born to Hans George Anderson and Olive (Clifford) Anderson on October 24, 1930 in South Fort George, BC.

George attended elementary school in Isle Pierre and later moved to Prince George for his high school years.

After working on a surveying crew and a mill, George was hired for the Canadian National Railway on January 9, 1952 and moved to Smithers shortly after.

He met the love of his life, Josephine Leslie Buchanan the same year at the Roi Theatre. After dating for four years, they were married on June 15, 1956 in Smithers.

Their son, Arthur George Anderson arrived a year later on June 29, 1957 and their daughter, Kim Leslie Anderson followed on July 31, 1959.

George enjoyed fly fishing and tying, and patented his own fly, the “Anderson Special”.

His passion was golfing locally as well as all over North America. He was fortunate enough to have two holes in one, 20 years apart.

George retired from the CNR on July 31, 1988 after 36 years of service.

George was known as a Gentleman and a family man, and family always came first.

George was pre-deceased by his parents, his daughter Kim, and his sister Ethel. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Jo, his son Art (Gina), his sisters Doris and Shirley, sister-in-law Lorraine, brother-in-law Art (Marge), nieces & nephews and many special friends.

A celebration of life took place on Friday, August 26, 2011.
