Frederick William George Coles

April 22, 1931 to March 13, 2003

Fred was born and raised in Kelowna, B.C. He passed away peacefully in his Driftwood home after a 15 year battle with Alzheimers.

Fred resided in the Bulkley Valley for the last 45 years. Thourghout his employment years he worked several jobs as well as his farm in the Driftwood Area. In 1988, after 20 years of service with the Canadian National Railways, he was forced to take an early retirement because of his illness, but continued to enjoy his time on the farm.

Fred had many interests which included hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, but one of his strongest commitments was spending time with his family.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Merrilyn; son Darryl (Rachele); daughters Tanya (Burton) and Lori (Darryl); grandchildren Matthew, Aleisha and Lucas; eight brothers, three sisters and many other relatives.

A gathering of family and friends was held March 19, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glenwood Hall in Driftwood where Fred and family have lived for 30 years.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Scholtz, the Home Care Nurses and Home Support Workers; with special thanks to Pauline, who has been with us for the past eight years. Also thank you to our many friends for organizing the afternoon of remembrance as well as your kind words of sympathy, food, flowers and cards.

Should family and friends so desire, donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of B.C.#20-601 West Cordova Street, Vancouver, B.C., V6B 1G1.
