Johnston, Fred passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Nov. 8, 2009 at the age of 78 years.

Fred is survived by his wife of 51 years, Josie, sons Jim (Cathy) of Edmonton, Alta., Wade (Kelly) of North Vancouver, B.C., daughters, Joanne Ventin (Ken Hessdorfer) of Arborfield, Sask. and Daunne (Bruce) Hall of Smithers, B.C. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and four sisters.

Fred and Josie were married in Smithers but moved around the province and in 2007 moved back to make Smithers their home. He was a mechanic in the auto industry all of his life. He always had a smile, handshake or a hug for everyone. His motto was one day at a time.

A Service of Remembrance was held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Rectorino officiating. Memorial tributes to the CNIB were requested in lieu of flowers and could be made to 100-490 Quebec Street, Prince George, BC V2L 5N5. Cremation.
