Fletcher F Day

June 30, 1931 to Dec. 8, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fletcher Day at Bulkley Valley District Hospital in Smithers after a short but intense battle with lung cancer.

Fletcher is survived by his wife Sherry, sister Wenda, brother Ellery, sister-in-law Maureen and children: Norm (Ilona), Evelyn (Lewis), Fred (Theresa), Rod, Rudy (Linda), Doyle, Amy (Mark), Dale (Maxine), Gayleen, Wade (Geraldine), Dwayne (Korena); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by sisters Janet and Brenda, brothers Charles and Colter.

Fletcher is well remembered and respected as a Tahltan elder, business leader, hunting guide and outfitter, horseman, equipment operator, song writer and singer. He ran his internationally known business Tahltan Outfitters for 45 years. His knowledge of the land of his ancestors and its animals was passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was a loving gentle man with a wonderful sense of humour who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

His funeral service and burial was held in Telegraph Creek, B.C. on Dec. 14, 2009.
