Fimke ten Brinke

(21 June 1933 - 10 November 2008)

In loving memory of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

The sun touches the blossom.

With warming rays,

Petals unfurled.

Opening, the beauty within is revealed.

She was this bloom;

Touched by the warmth and care

Of her savior, Jesus.

Sometimes this bloom closed;

Open, the moments we treasure always,

The beauty within revealed.

Now heaven will see it:

The bloom permanently unfurled,

The fullness of God-given beauty revealed.

~from our hearts~

“Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom;

it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy…they will see the glory of the LORD,

the splendor of our God.”

- Isaiah 35:1-2

After 75 years of life, Fimke went to join her heavenly Father. Her last couple days were spent at the hospital in Smithers, but she will be remembered by many friends and relatives in various places.

Fimke was predeceased by a loving husband, John ten Brinke, who passed from this life on April 7, 2001. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands: Hennie and Harry Leffers, and Clara and John Brienen. She was also known as “Grandma T” to Daryl & Kim, Tracy & Curtis, Rodney, Kelly & Tara, Rachel & Mitch, Kurtis, Arthur & Lindsey, Kim & Nich, Cheri, and Brittany. Fimke also enjoyed her great-grandchildren and was a very special “Nanny” to Brody, Rylan, Kayden, and Wayde.

A funeral service was held on November 15, 2008 at the Canadian Reformed Church in Smithers, British Columbia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Smithers Adult Day Centre, where Fimke spent many enjoyable and enriching days during her last few years of life.
