March 22, 1924 - January 25, 2020
Passed peacefully in her sleep at Bulkley Lodge at the age of 95.
Daintre was born in Telkwa, B.C. on March 22, 1924 to Clarence & Winnifred Goodacre, shortly thereafter moving to Smithers. In 1937 her father opened Goodacre's Family Grocery Store & she moved with her parents & three siblings to live above the store on Main Street. She attended school and made many lifelong friendships growing up in Smithers.
She married Fred Riffel in 1946 and they raised their family in the Bulkley Valley.
Daintre was very active in the Community, in her Church, Legion Ladies Auxiliary and many Service groups and Committees. She was always ready to volunteer and step in to help where needed.
She loved her family, looking forward to family dinners & celebrations.
Daintre leaves behind her son, Jim Riffel of Smithers, daughter, Valerie Drummond of South Surrey, grandson Dan Drummond (Katie) of Vancouver, granddaughter Christy Drummond & great-grandson Tristan Drummond of White Rock, granddaughter Sara Fox (Ray) & great granddaughter Renee Wood of Saskatoon. She also leaves behind her siblings, Slim Goodacre & Charlotte Kelly, sister-in-laws Margaret Goodacre of Smithers & Marlene Boechler of Lloydminster, along with many many other family members and friends.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Wellspring Services, Martha Wertz, Bulkley Lodge staff & Dr. Dykstra for the excellent care that she has received.
A Celebration of her Life will be held in early June, details to follow.
Donations in her name can be made to Bulkley Lodge, PO Box 3640, Smithers, BC V0J 2N0
