Eva peacefully passed away at Wrinch Memorial Hospital, June 2, 2004, at the age of 85, following a short illness.

Funeral service was held at Mountain View Assembly, Smithers, June 11, 2004 with Captains Randy and Lisa Randell officiating. Interment at Smithers Cemetery.

Eva was a long time resident of the Bulkley Valley since 1954, when she came to Smithers to commence a job nursing at the Bulkley Valley Hospital. She received her nurses training at Charlottetown Infirmary in 1939. Her nursing career included working in Ponnoka, as well as Essendale, New Westminister to name a few. She made many long lasting friendships along the way before retiring from nursing in 1981.

She joined the Salvation Army in 1942, doing her steadfast session in Toronto. Faithfully, she served the Lord the remainder of her life. For many years, she was the sole representative of the Salvation Army in Smithers.

In May of 1957, she married her late husband, Grant Headley. They built a home in Evelyn where she lived the rest of her life.

Eva had a love for knitting, and craft work. Almost every weekend she could be found at a craft fair or bazaar selling her handiwork before she lost her sight.

She leaves her loving daughter, Jean (Raymond) West, grandchildren Deanna, Heather, and Morgan West, sister Irene Phillips, and brother Hector MacFadyen, niece Bev Schofield and nephew Wayne Matheson.

She was predeceased by husband Grant, foster children Rick Smith and Rod Green and her brother Cyrus
