Essie Jane Benson

February 12, 1914, Barwick, ON

Passed away at Wrinch Memorial Hospital, Hazelton, B.C. September 3, 2009 at the age of 95

A celebration of her life was held September 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Community Gospel Chapel in New Hazelton. Officiated by Marion and Martin Penner. Interment was held at the New Hazelton Cemetery officiated by R.A. Schrader Funeral Home.

Essie was the loving wife of 50 years to Clarence Benson who died in 1982.

She came from a family of 13 brothers and sisters and is survived by her youngest sister Effie Boisclaire of Alberta

Essie is also survived by four daughters: Shirley (Alf) Tims of St. Thomas, ON, Florence Carr of New Hazelton, B.C., Joyce (Don) Adams of Wroxeter, ON, Mary-Ann (Dick Heggie of Edmonton, AB. Essie was a grandmother to 11, great-grandmother to 12, and great-great-grandmother to three.

Unfortunately, she was predeceased by her daughter Alice Wildfong in 2007, survived by son-in-law Bob Wildfong.

Essie was predeceased by grandson Lloyd Carr, son-in-law Tom Carr and great-grandson Jerry Flynn. The family of Essie Benson wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care and compassion of the medical and support staff of the Wrinch Memorial Hospital. From the Candy Stripers, housekeeping, laundry, dietary, maintenance, to the doctors, nurses and care givers. Each and every one of you made a difference to her life and for that we are sincerely grateful. Thank you all.

We would also like to thank the wonderful people of the entire Hazelton’s Community for all their care, concern and attention during her later years
