Feb 8, 1935 - Mar 25, 2018
Erwin Edward Ehalt went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2018 at the age of 83, following a short illness in Kelowna, BC. He is survived by his children, Garth (Kelly - Spenser, Ryan, Owen), Marcel (Kelly - Jordan, Connor), Lianne Pidherny (Blaine - Quentin, Riley) and Shelley (Paul Nessman - Michael Jorgensen). He was sadly predeceased by his wife, Irene in June 1990.

Erv was born February 8, 1935 in Saskatchewan, the 6th of 9 children belonging to Frank and Anna Ehalt. He spent his childhood and teenage years in Pilger and Annaheim, Saskatchewan. Erv married Irene in 1956 and the couple moved to British Columbia in 1958. Over the course of the next few years, they moved several times, adding to the family along the way. Garth was born in Regina in January 1958; Marcel and Lianne were born in Fort St. John in 1960 and 1962 respectively; Shelley was born after they settled in Telkwa in 1965.

The family enjoyed camping, bowling, curling, card nights with friends and visits back to Saskatchewan as the children grew. Erv appreciated the opportunity to be the Telkwa Fire Chief and he and Irene spent many happy hours volunteering and participating in Kinsmen/Kinette activities. Erv was honored with lifetime memberships to both the Kinsmen and Telkwa Fire Department.

Erv loved fishing and hunting and happily participated in both with his sons and grandsons right up to this past fall. In recent years, Erv became an all-star arm-chair athlete and could always be counted on to know the latest scores and details about your favourite team or sport. He enjoyed the friendly wager of the family hockey pool and recently had the pleasure of attending the Scotties Tournament of Hearts Curling in Penticton with Lianne. Coffee with the guys at the Twin was also a popular pastime in recent years.

Erv took great pleasure in his grandkids and enjoyed attending the soccer tournaments, music recitals or plays they were involved in.

Erv valued time spent with each of his children, recently residing with Shelley in Smithers.

The family will hold a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations in Erv's honor may be made to Parkinson Society British Columbia, 600 - 890 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC Canada V6C 1J9 or online at https://www.parkinson.bc.ca Thank you.
