September 18, 1941 - April 29, 2023
In loving memory ~
Ed was born September 18, 1941, in Victoria, BC and passed away peacefully at the Bulkley Lodge in Smithers, BC on April 29, 2023. In his youth he was an outstanding all-round athlete, commercial fisherman, and the youngest Forest Ranger in Canada which took him from the northern to southern borders of BC, reporting on forest bug infestations. Later in life Ed bought the 'Green Weiner' dozer which skidded logs, fought forest fires, built many a logging road and a large section of the Smithers X-Country Ski Trails. He also will be remembered for his time spent, which was sometimes very sketchy, on the Bulkley River with his river boat. This was not only fishing and jumping Tatlow Falls but also included volunteering his skills and boat for rescue and missing person searches.
"I hear the train a comin', it's rolling round the bend."
There will be a Celebration of Life later this summer somewhere near the river and anyone wanting to donate to a good cause can contact the Bulkley Lodge.
