June 2, 1938 - September 8, 2024
In loving memory ~
Ed was born on June 2, 1938 in Kelowna, BC. A heart of gold stopped beating on September 8, 2024. Ed passed away quietly at the Smithers Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Cecilia, and his brother, Jim. He is survived and adored by his wife, Diane, sons: Glenn (Patti) and Jordan (Cindy), and grandkids Madison, Nicholas, and Quinn.
Ed spent his childhood years in Kelowna. He met the love of his life, Diane, in Vernon and they married in the fall of '63. Soon after, the couple moved up to Kitimat where Ed pursued his electrical apprenticeship and they began raising their two young boys, Glenn and Jordan. Ed started his own electric company in Smithers, and later moved the family to Hazelton.
Ed was a sports fan. He played goalie in hockey when he was younger (without a mask) and was also a back catcher in baseball. He was involved in his sons' minor hockey and loved watching the game and sports in general.
While in Hazelton, Ed discovered his true passion: working in mines. He enjoyed getting to explore the north through various mine sites and connected with the close-knit mining community. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling, long walks, golfing, gardening and wood work. He was a member of the Hazelton Hospital Board (and wired the Nurses' Residence), was President of the Snowmobile Club, and was passionate about politics. Ed loved the sun. Together, Diane and Ed traveled to many warm destinations and enjoyed meeting new people wherever they went.
Ed brought his good humour with him wherever he went. Our family cherishes our lifetime of memories with him.
We want to thank the staff at the Terrace and BV Hospitals for their kindness and exceptional care during this time.
