Douglas James FIEDLER

January 5, 2016

Fiedler, Douglas James: It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Douglas Fiedler on January 5, 2016.

Doug was born in Saskatoon, SK. on March 21, 1930.

As a toddler, Doug moved with his family to Stony Lake, where he spent most of his teen young years where his father worked in the forestry. In 1945, they moved to Quensel, BC.

After one year, they moved to Athabaska, AB where he owned his own trucking business. In 1956, Doug, along with his parents moved to Smithers BC, where Doug spent most of his working years.

After working at Smither’s Planer for a number of years, Doug left in 1967 to work for the Department of Highways as a machinist, until his retirement in 1988.

During his working years, Doug dabbled in prospecting and had a passion for flying, owning four different planes, during his flying years.

When Doug retired, he achieved his life long dream of living at the lake, when he found exactly what he was looking for at Dore Lake, SK.

Doug was predeceased by his father James, and then his mother Mary in 1980.

He leaves to mourn many friends and their families, who will always value their friendship with Doug. He was a man of integrity, many talents, and a heart of gold. He will be dearly missed.

Arrangements in care of MARTENS WARMAN FUNERAL HOME (306-934-4888).
