Douglas Herman passed away in Kamloops at the Royal Inland Hospital at 72 years of age. Douglas was born in Rossland, B.C. to James and Gertrude Herman. He was eighth of eleven siblings.

He spent his youth in Smithers, B.C., loved to play baseball and was an excellent player. He then moved to Kamloops for a short while and then settled in Vernon where he lived for many years. He moved to Pine Grove Lodge in Kamloops in August 2004.

Doug was predeceased by his parents, he son Arthur, he sisters, Patricia and Shirley, his brothers Jim, Garry, and Barry. Brothers’ in-law Armin and Frank.

He is survived by his daughter, Glenda Haywood (Glenn), son Mickey Herman, two granddaughters, TeriLynn Bryson, and Shelly Haywood and two great-granddaughts, Kaitlynn and Sydney Bryson. Also his sisters, Jean (Owen), Ruth (Jim), Beverly, Sharon and brothers Don (Yateve), sister-in-law Inez, Lorraine and Linda.

“Grandpa Doug” was an intergral and loving part of his family and leaves many fond memories. Road trips, photography and spending time at the airport watching planes were some of his favourite things. Doug enjoyed spending his mornings with friends at the A&W in Vernon.

The family is very grateful to the staff of Pine Grove for the friendship and care that he received while living at the Lodge.

There will be no funeral service by request. His family will spread his asshes in Smithers at a later date.
