DOROTHY MARGARET VAN HORN passed away peacefully during the evening of Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Bulkley Lodge. Dorothy had recently moved into the Bulkley Lodge after a number of years of apartment living since the passing of her husband, Buck. The greatest joy in Dorothy’s life was her family; and each of her remaining “Boys” (Ross, Arthur, and Clifford) teased her constantly, which she reveled in. Dorothy’s legacy covers five generations and totaling over 40 grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren. This little lady that moved to the Valley as a young bride from Calgary, Alberta, has left a pretty large foot print in her wake, and we will miss her dearly.

The family would like to thank the staff at BVDH and the Bulkley Lodge, and RA Schrader Funeral Home for your wonderful care, support and services with Dorothy. We offer a special thank you to Dr. J. Preto for all her hard work in the care and passing of Dorothy.

Dorothy’s memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 2 p.m. in RA Schrader Funeral Home Chapel. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the BVDH Ladies Auxiliary, of which Dorothy was a member. Honourary Pallbearers: Debbie Logan, Eddy Van Horn, Colleen Robinson, Jeanette Van Horn, Nicole De Jong, Terri-Lynn Van Horn, Leonard Burri, Michael Van Horn, Darren Van Horn, Cori Van Horn, Cheryl Johnston, and Lesli Van Horn. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Buck, son Peter, son Edwin, daughter Leona, sister Eva, sister Lily, and sister Mae.
