Loving husband, father, brother, son and friend
Don passed away peacefully to be with his
heavenly father at the age of 54.
He is survived by his wife Grace and his children
Kristina and Brian. His mother Elizabeth Huisman
and his siblings Randy Huisman, Adriana (Terry)
Harris, Terry (Sue) Huisman, Orvy (Cornelia) Huisman,
Theo (Loralee) Huisman, Annette (Steve)
Smith, Rick (Arlene) Huisman.

His mother-in-law Nel Poelman, sisters-in-laws Audrey (Ralph)
vanderSchaaf and Shirley Poelman, and brother-in-law Gerald (Shannon)
Poelman. And numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Ralph Huisman, father-in-law Jannes
Poelman and brother-in-law John Poelman.
Don started his farming career at an early age on the family dairy farm in
Smithers, B.C. In 1990 he established his own dairy farm in Gleichen, AB.
In 1997 he moved to the Barrhead area and started a cow-calf operation.
He had a good eye for cattle and enjoyed watching the genetic progress
of his herd. He enjoyed working with young people and was a project
leader in the local 4-H Club and also worked as an AWANA leader for
several years.
A celebration of his life will take place Saturday October 22, 1:00pm at
the Bethel Pentacostal Church in Barrhead.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Barrhead Healthcare
Centre for taking care of him these past four months.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the 4-H Foundation of Alberta,
RR 1, Westerose, AB T0C 2V0 or the charity of one’s choice.
