October 8, 1944 - May 1, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Dianne van der Meulen announces her passing after a brief illness, on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019, at the age of 74 years. Dianne was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan on October 8th, 1944 and grew up in Telkwa, BC where she spent most of her youth and later met her husband, Gary. They operated their Round Lake Farm with Gary's parents, Piet and Janna, brother Cor, and sister-in-law Judy for many years before moving to Smithers. Dianne was a loving wife, mother of four, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a strong faith and always saw the best in everyone. She loved to have family and friends around and always welcomed everyone into their home with open arms. Dianne was an avid gardener and loved her years of tree planting and working in the tree nursery. She was passionate about history and genealogy, and volunteered many hours with the Quick Women's Institute and the Telkwa Museum.
Dianne will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Gary and her children, Derwin, Yvette (Brent), Devon (Monica) and Monique (Justin). Dianne will also be fondly remembered by her twelve grandchildren, Maya, Duran, Tori, James, Janna, Jacob, Dara, Rylan, Grace, Thea, Alissa and Aliya, and by her brother, Jerry Nedelec. Dianne was predeceased by her brothers Larry and Ronnie.
A Funeral Service in memory of Dianne will be held on Saturday, May 18th, 2019 at 2:00 pm, at the Mountain View Assembly Church, 2567 Viewmount Road South, Smithers, B.C., with Pastor Dave Murphy officiating. Those who desire to, may make memorial donations in memory of Dianne to the Canadian Cancer Society.
