It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Dave, born December 9, 1949 in Vancouver, B.C. He died peacefully March 3, 2011 at the age of 61. He is survived by his wife and greatest friend Claire, daughter Darcie Wiley (Jason), sons Aaron (Cindy) and Dylan, grandchildren Brittany, Megan, Danyka, Nathan, Selena, Logan, Noah, and Margaret, mother Margaret Clay (Jack), sister Cathie Visser (Ralph), brothers Gord (Mary-Lou), Jock (Deb) and Pat as well as many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
He took little time to grab onto life at full speed, starting from a young age growing up in Vancouver, through his years in northern B.C. and continuing throughout his long and loving marriage of 41 years. Dave was a passionate, loving and proud husband, father, grandfather and friend. He lived to call a good many people dear friends, many of whom have shown wonderful support to our family and we will be forever grateful. Dave was deeply tickled by successes enjoyed by those he loved. He had a fulfilling career over 40 years that challenged and entertained him. He was an avid sports enthusiast in his youth as an athlete, and as a coach, parent and grandparent. His charm, intelligence, wit, curiosity, and generous nature will be forever missed and cherished.
Services were held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14644-72nd Ave., Surrey, B.C. 604-596-7196. While Dave had an impressive green thumb, in lieu of flowers a donation to the Surrey Food Bank or the Union Gospel Mission would be more in keeping with his spirit.
