In loving memory ~

David Havelock Aitken, born in London, Ontario in September 1942, passed away suddenly on May 8, 2024, in Salmon Arm, BC. He was a man of deep love and unwavering commitment to family.

Dave grew up in Victoria, BC. His career path with the Forest Service led him to Hazelton, where he met his ex-wife Pieteke and her loving Pelsma family. Together, they nurtured a family of five children, creating a home that echoed with warmth, laughter, and love.

Dave transitioned to the logging industry, co-owning a business with his brother-in-law and friend Steven Leary. He later took the wheel of his own logging truck.

Retirement brought Dave to Sorrento, where he embraced lakeside living. Active in his community, he reveled in simple pleasures - gazing at the Shuswap, friendly gatherings, and the joy of connecting with neighbors.

Dave's world revolved around his love for his family and friends. He crisscrossed the map to visit his children and grandchildren, cherishing those moments together. He traveled often to Hazelton to connect with friends, and he was proud of his trips to Shetland where he loved to visit his relatives.

He will be forever missed by his children, Liz Labby (Marshall), Annette Russell (Rob), David J. Aitken (Marianne), Gerrit Aitken as well as his grandchildren. His sister Elizabeth Jarvos, niece Maggie Jarvos (Jay) and daughers. Dave was predeceased by his parents and his youngest son, Arjen Aitken.

A Celebration of his Life will be held in New Hazelton at the Erwin Stege Community Centre on July 13, 2024 at 1:30pm.
