In Loving Memory ~
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Sharon Gardner (nee Knowles). Darlene was living in Smithers, BC when she lost her battle with cancer on July 27, 2022.
Born in Kitimat, BC on August 29, 1955 she spent most of her early childhood years growing up in Prince Rupert, BC. Later, she completed a Diploma of Forest Technology at BCIT and moved to Williams Lake, BC where she married her husband of 41 years, Larry Gardner.
Darlene had a 33 year career with the Ministry of Forests in Williams Lake and Quesnel and was an Operations Manager when she retired in 2010.
Darlene loved life, family and friends, pets, creating crafts, travel and especially Christmas. She was a very giving and creative person and made many gifts for friends and family. Truly, one of the most loving individuals you could ever hope to meet.
Over the years Darlene also enjoyed to travel and she saw many exciting countries as well as wonderful places in BC and Canada. Many times, Larry would arrive home from work to find travel brochures spread out on the table indicating another trip was in order.
In 2020, Darlene built her dream home with her husband in Smithers which was located next door to her daughter and two grandchildren. Nothing could have made her happier.
Darlene is survived by her husband Larry Gardner of Smithers, daughter Tasheena (Curtis) England of Smithers, grandchildren Adelai and Everitt, her sisters Linda (Larry) Nilson of Calgary and Carol Frolek of Merritt, as well as her father David Knowles of Lumby.
A small private gathering will be held at her home. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Darlene Gardner can be made to the Bulkley Valley Health Foundation Palliative Care Fund (bvhealthfoundation.ca).
