September 14, 1982 - January 14, 2019
Dan was born in Anchorage, AK, and grew up in Cordova and Kodiak. He travelled widely with his parents during his childhood and continued his love of travel as an adult. He moved to Smithers, BC, in 2002 and found work in the diamond-drilling support industry. Most recently, Dan was employed in camp and lab setup in the Dawson City, YK, area. He was well respected and liked in his chosen field. At the time of his passing at age 36, Dan was visiting his brother Robert and family in Cuenca, Ecuador.

Dan was a loving son who spent as much time as possible with family and friends. He also enjoyed travelling and challenging himself with such pursuits as skydiving and cliff climbing.

Dan will be sorely missed by his mother, Christina (Rob) Widen; his sister Renee (Billy) Utz; brothers Robert (Fernanda) and Ricky (Lucy); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Rick Graves.

The family wishes to thank the many who have shown support during this difficult time, with special thanks to Ground Truth Exploration for its kind generosity.

A celebration of Dan's life was held Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at the Legion hall in Smithers. If friends so wish, donations in Dan's name may be made to the Salvation Army.
