In loving memory

Carol Derbyshire

June 18, 1946 to August 27, 2009

Carol was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta on June 18, 1946 and passed away suddenly in Smithers on August 27, 2009.

She is survived by her loving husband Dan of 44 years and her two sons Darcy (Cindy) and Stede (Jennifer) and her grandchildren Mishayla, Kyler, Devon, Daniel and Boden. Brothers Calvin (Jean), Wally (Patty), Barry (Janice), Carl (Kathy) and Sister Joy Fish. She was predeceased by her father Bob in 1971, mother Ethel in 1985, and nephew Damon in 2004.

Carol’s family moved to Creston, BC when she was a baby and she spent the first 12 years of her life there before they moved to Crawford Bay in 1956. She and Dan moved to Smithers in 1966 when Darcy was a baby and with the exception of a couple years spent in Ft. St. James and Prince George they have made Smithers their home.

Carol accepted everyone for the way they were, never judgmental and always providing positive encouragement to family and friends. She suffered much pain in the past few years with her various illness that restricted her movement and ability to be the one that always looked after everyone else. A family reunion in August of this year in Alberta saw Carol enjoying every minute of her time with relatives that she had not seen in many years. One thing Carol enjoyed passionately was her little dogs, them being with her most of the time no matter where she went.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends with the void of her leaving us never being filled. She is no longer in pain and will be enjoying the company of her Mom & Dad and nephew Damon. We love you Carol.

A celebration of Carols life was held on Sept 3, 2009.
