Carl Wilhelm Sandberg was born April 13, 1933 in Prince George. Carl passed away on Dec. 29, 2007, after an eight year battle with cancer.

Carl married an had two children in Prince George. The family then moved to McBride, Kitimat and then Smithers for the last 28 years. Carl owned and drove truck for Esso/Chevron Bulk Stations for 35 years.

Carl was happiest spending time with family and friends around a bonfire. He loved to sing old songs, tell stories and hug everyone. His favourite pastimes were fishing, hunting, golfing, curling, bowling, skiing and gathering wood. He spent a lot of time volunteering for the curling rink and the golf course.

Carl is survived by his son Trevor (Rita), daughter Carla (Rick), brothers Bob and Roy, and grandchildren Trevor, Brett, Adam and Liam.

We would like to express our gratitude to the nurses and doctors of the BV District Hospital, ,with a special thanks to Lynn Shervill, Dr. Strauss, Dr. Bastian and Loretta Mehr.

A memorial was held Jan. 5 at the curling rink, and we would like to thank the “Birthday Girls” for all their hard work. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Smithers Community Cancer Cure Team. Donations can be made at the BV Credit Union in Carl Sandberg’s name.
