Carl Banta, born May 16, 1935 in Smithers, B.C., passed away Sept. 11, 2008. Carl was predeceased by his father Wesley Banta, mother Florence (Warin) and sister Verna. He is survived by sons Aaron and Scott, step-children Trevor and Susan, brothers Mel and Ray and sister Marie.
Carl worked in the bush as a sawyer and faller for many years and later worked at PIR where he ran the dry kilns.
Strong and opinionated he was able to build or fix anything. He belonged to that lost era of men who truly could be self-sufficient. His many friends will remember his sense of humour, passion for fishing and exceptional character.
He was a true original, a good and honest man and he will be sorely missed.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no services.
