Williams, Betty Rose (Hall) passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Sept. 1, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving husband, Gordon, and her family.

Betty was born in Taunton, England on June 14, 1922 and grew up in Port Alice, B.C. She graduated from the Royal Columbian School of Nursing in 1945. Betty nursed in the Alert Bay area. She moved to Smithers to nurse and once here met and married the love of her life, Gordon. They were married for 63 very happy years and shared many adventures. Her sons Colin (Rita), Gordie (Barb) and daughters Elizabeth, Sue (Steve) and Glynn (Greg) had the best mom ever. Betty cherished and loved her 15 grandchildren, many step grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Betty was involved with St. James Anglican Church, working in the Thrift Shop and in the Soup Kitchen. She was also a long time volunteer at the New to You Store and a member of the Red Hat Society. Gordon always had her support in whatever project he was involved with as the Bulkley Valley community was their community and still is.

“We will miss you always”

Betty was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Rose Hall, her infant son Thomas, her brothers Les and Laurie, her sister Beverly and great grandson Keagan.

Gordon and family appreciate so much the care given to Betty over the last five years, especially Dr. Pretorius, Jenny DeJong, staff at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital and all the home care nurses. Also Sharon DeVries and Yvonne Fredett for their great care and help.

The funeral service took place on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at 2:00 pm in St. James Anglican Church with Rev. D. Moser officiating. Interment was in the Smithers Cemetery. The service was followed by tea and refreshments served by the A.C.W. Memorial donations to the B.V. Foundation, P.O. Box 4584, Smithers, B.C., V0J 2N0 or to the charity of choice were requested in lieu of flowers.
